Birth doula pricing
I operate on a sliding up scale. A deposit of $500 is required to save your date in my calendar. It can be scary to pay a doula in full before the birth takes place, before experiencing continuous labor support for yourself. By using this scale, families can feel confident that they will have the power to pay what they think is fair, based on my performance and reliability at their birth.
The final payment of $500 to $900 (you choose how much) is due at the postpartum appointment unless prior arrangements have been made. The total price for your entire doula care package will be $1000 to $1400. I accept payment by cash, check, PayPal and credit card.
When clients have questions about my unusual pay system, I simply explain that you wouldn't pay a massage therapist in full before receiving your massage, correct? It can be hard to know what an experience is worth before it happens. The sliding up scale allows clients to tip - so to speak - if they feel inclined. This is never required.
Placenta Services
For people who have done their own research and made the informed decision to encapsulate their placentas for consumption. This page is not offering medical advice.
I also offer several placenta services. I was trained by Carrie Kenner, of Big Belly Services in the warming traditional Chinese medicine method of encapsulation. If you are interested in a raw preparation, I will show you how to maximize its effectiveness while minimizing safety issues. Encapsulations can be done at the client's home or at my own home, whichever the client prefers.
The fee for encapsulation is $200. If you prefer the encapsulation take place at my home, I will pick up your placenta and drop off your capsules the next day. Average turn around time is 24 hours. If you would also like a placenta print, just let me know ahead of time. The print is free for encapsulation clients.
If you are already a birth doula client, and you would also like your placenta encapsulated and printed, the fee is only $125. This fee is fixed and not part of the sliding up scale used for doula pricing.
Free doula care for pregnant teens
Teenagers aged 19 and younger are always free as long as I have availability, both for doula care and for encapsulation services.
